{CARS} Birthday

>> Thursday, January 16, 2014

Seriously I DO NOT post enough on this blog.  I take pictures of most of the projects I do, but never get around to blogging about it.  Which is sad...some of you might want to see the fun little projects I do.

Anyway...

A while back (I won't even tell you what "a while back" actually means) I helped out my friend JoJo with the birthday party she threw for her twins Brayden and Caylee.

They LOVE the movie Cars, so it was only fitting that that would be the theme.  Since I love creating fun things on my CAMEO I offered to help her with all that I could.  We used Pinterest for inspiration and put our own spin on cute ideas.  I had so much fun and it wasn't even for one of my own kids!!

For each of the food items she was serving I made these cute place cards.  I downloaded images that I found online and added additional images that I purchased from Silhouette or created my own depending on what I thought would look cute.

These were by far my favorite...The Pit Crew Pass.  JoJo picked up lanyards at the party store to attach to these.  And of course to add an extra detail...I laminated them.

I purchased these cute little boxes from Silhouette, but added a window so you could see the oreo cookies (tires) inside.  She wanted them as "Thank you" gifts, so I created a personalized trophy tag.

I also created Route 66 signs, Stop signs and Rest Stop Signs (not shown) to hang around the house.  She also borrowed tires from a local store to stack at the front door and I created a sign that read "Brayden and Caylee's Casa De La Tires".  I wish I had remembered to take a picture of that because it was so cute!

It wasn't a party for my kids, but it was super fun to help out.

I was in my craft room almost the entire day!  I made a few cards...worked on a special project soon to be revealed and did a little bit of organizing.  Getting laundry done over the weekend relieved all guilt I might have had over getting NO house work done today!

Here is the CAS(E) this sketch challenge card this week...

And here is my card...

I will be honest and tell you that this was not my first card for this challenge.  I was really drawing a blank.  I wanted something other than the usual 'Thank you' or 'Birthday', but those cards always seem to come easier to me.

Supplies:
Bazzill Paper
Me and My Big Ideas Embellishments

Two Birds...One Stone

>> Thursday, August 8, 2013

Of course it is my intention to participate in more card challenges, yet every week something gets in the way or I just forget.  Not this week though...I knew I wanted to get off my butt and create something and thanks to Karolyn at Paper Therapy and her Facebook post this morning I did just that.

Here is the CAS(E) this sketch challenge this week...

And here are my TWO cards.

I went SUPER simple with both cards, but am very happy with how they each turned out.  Two of my close friends are celebrating birthdays this month, so I needed two cards anyway!!  Can's wait to get them in the mail!

Supplies:
Bazzill Paper
Twine
Making Memories Embellishments

Thrifting and Scrapbooking

>> Tuesday, August 6, 2013

I promised the kids I would take them to Chic-fil-A for lunch today, so since they were on their best behavior I made a quick stop at Savers on the way.

My sister repinned this on Pinterest the other day courtesy of One Artsy Mama!!  So stinkin' cute huh??  Can you tell what it was before it was this awesome jewelry organizer??  A coffee mug holder!!

Such a great idea and a re-do I can totally handle...if only I had an old coffee mug holder.

Well...look what I found today!

Can't decide whether it should be for me or for Taylor.  I thought $2.99 was a bargain.  Just need a fun color of paint!

After we shopped and had lunch we came home...the kids played with their friends and I finished more pages for their scrapbooks.

I hope the kids appreciate these some day!!

Two More

>> Friday, August 2, 2013

I have been pretty productive the last few days.  It feels good to be back to it.  I have decided that when I can't think of anything to do OR I get stuck on projects...I need to just sit down and work on the kids' scrapbooks.  I really have NO excuse not too.

I have more paper than most people could imagine AND I have ALL of my photos printed in hand (I have spent a small fortune at Costco for said photos).

So yesterday when it was WAY too windy to spray paint (like I had planned), rather than turning on the TV (which is what I started to do)...I sat down in my craft room and pulled out some photos.

And YAY for me....

I finished two more pages for Thomas' book!!

I absolutely LOVE looking at the kids' scrapbooks and for now so do they.  He was pretty excited when he saw me working on his book.

Catching Up

>> Saturday, March 9, 2013

I am not quite sure what is happening with me...

I started making cards again...and as if that wasn't gasp worthy...

Now I am starting to play catch-up on the kids' scrapbooks.  WHAAAAATTTT??

I know...a little part of me thought I would never get back to this life project, but I have and it is great.  I took out Thomas and Taylor's books and they just made me smile.  Well...what I have done that is.  And then of course they both stop abruptly and Tatum didn't even have a book.

Well now she does and now pages are getting done.

Here are a few that I did for Taylor's book!!  Both Thomas and Taylor love seeing old pictures and wow how flies.  I am currently working on pages for ages 2 and 4.  Hilarious right??  Wait until I show pics of the pages I did for Thomas.  My little man has changed A LOT!!

I am movin' right along!!  Tatum's nap time is proving to be the perfect time for me to be productive!!!   3 quiet hours I can spend in my craft room!!

12 For 1

>> Tuesday, March 5, 2013

While I was going through all of my paper crafting supplies I came across some paper that coordinated with the months of the year.  I decided it would be perfect for a little gift I wanted to give to a friend.

12 Cards...

I for each month of the year!!

Now that I have started making cards again I am reminded how nice it is to send a card "Just Because" and if you just happen to have cards on hand...it is a whole lot easier.

The sentiment on or in each card is simple because the paper is pretty busy.  I thought they turned out cute though and hopefully the person that receives  them will as well.

Happy crafting!!

Keep Calm and Birthday On

>> Monday, February 25, 2013

If I am being honest I was planning Tatum's first birthday party before I was wrapping presents for Christmas.  I knew all of the things I wanted, but I couldn't decide on a theme, so I opted for NO theme.  Instead I just wanted color...TONS of color.

And I think I accomplished just that...

I used my Cameo for everything.  And except for the boa on the party hats, I had all of the supplies in my craft room.  The party hats were a huge hit with the four little girls.  Note to self though...when you make party hats...make them all the same to avoid three sad little girls who did not get the "pink" one.

And because I was shooting for mom of the year...I decided that I would make Tatum her birthday outfit.  I bought a plain white T-shirt at Hobby Lobby and sewed a fabric #1 and some flowers on the front.  I wanted a super cute diaper cover to go with and my mom was nice enough to help me fumble through the pattern and sew one myself.  Not going to lie...I was pretty proud of my work!!
