Kids' Bathroom

>> Thursday, August 22, 2013

Since my kids share a bathroom I have kept it neutral.  I had hoped in this house I would get one more bathroom, so the girls could have their own and Thomas would have his own.  No luck though!!

Since this will not be our house for the long-term I decided to keep most of what was in their old bathroom and just try and add a few new pieces.  Just because it is the bathroom doesn't mean it doesn't need decor!!

Yellow and Blue were my colors and Rubber Duckies were the theme.

I'm sorry, but Rubber Duckies will always be cute in my book.

I kept the hand towel, the shower curtain, the toothbrush holder and the soap dispenser (it quacks, so I had too)!!

I added the tissue holder and the cup.  I found them at Ross for $2.99 and $1.99.  Seriously?!  For glass bathroom decor...that's a steal!!

Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE my Cameo?!  Well...I do!  I an extra frame just calling for a picture...my first thought was a picture of MY kids in the bath...but I don't have any.  Well, I don't have any with all three of them.  So...my next thought was to look for a cute phrase!

Silhouette Online Shop to the rescue!!

I created this 8x10 print using my Cameo and...

VOILA!!

I was going to hang it above the toilet, but was afraid that any time my kids forgot to turn on the fan moisture might get into the frame.  Turns out...I like it better here anyway!

I did not paint that wall...it came like that, but actually matched, so no need to paint!

How cute is that tissue holder?  I needed a little more color!

Got Bows?!  Just a few of Taylor and Tatum's bows!

If only it had better lighting!!

Halloween on the Brain

>> Tuesday, August 20, 2013

I told my hubby I want to have a Halloween party again this year!  Although I am almost positive I saw some eye rolling...he did not say NO!  Now I can't seem to think of anything else.  Sometimes I am not sure which holiday I get more excited about...Halloween or Christmas!  I might say I love them both just for completely different reasons.

Last year I decided to start my Halloween decorating in early September just so I could enjoy it that much longer.  It will probably happen again this year, I'm not going to lie.

There are SO many awesome decorating ideas out there...Thank you Pinterest!!

These are a few of my favorites and some that I might even be trying to re-create myself!!

This one from Desiree at The 36th Avenue!

Who doesn't love a good Dollar Store craft?

I'm not sure where this porch originated from, but seriously?  LOVE IT!!  I finally have a porch of my own to decorate and I might need to steel a few of these ideas!

I love so much about this porch, but those birds??  I need them!!

I'm not sure how crazy my front yard will get, but I would love to find a way to board up my windows like this house.

I have already started saving my empty wine bottles, just haven't committed to which project I like better.

Or I could start drinking more wine and do multiple!

My orange Halloween tubs stair at me every time I walk in and out of the laundry room...I can't wait to drag them all upstairs.  It won't be too long before I can take pictures of my own decorating and share them with you.

Am I the only one that gets this excited for Halloween?!

I was in my craft room almost the entire day!  I made a few cards...worked on a special project soon to be revealed and did a little bit of organizing.  Getting laundry done over the weekend relieved all guilt I might have had over getting NO house work done today!

Here is the CAS(E) this sketch challenge card this week...

And here is my card...

I will be honest and tell you that this was not my first card for this challenge.  I was really drawing a blank.  I wanted something other than the usual 'Thank you' or 'Birthday', but those cards always seem to come easier to me.

Supplies:
Bazzill Paper
Me and My Big Ideas Embellishments

Two Birds...One Stone

>> Thursday, August 8, 2013

Of course it is my intention to participate in more card challenges, yet every week something gets in the way or I just forget.  Not this week though...I knew I wanted to get off my butt and create something and thanks to Karolyn at Paper Therapy and her Facebook post this morning I did just that.

Here is the CAS(E) this sketch challenge this week...

And here are my TWO cards.

I went SUPER simple with both cards, but am very happy with how they each turned out.  Two of my close friends are celebrating birthdays this month, so I needed two cards anyway!!  Can's wait to get them in the mail!

Supplies:
Bazzill Paper
Twine
Making Memories Embellishments
Dress it up Buttons

Thrifting and Scrapbooking

>> Tuesday, August 6, 2013

I promised the kids I would take them to Chic-fil-A for lunch today, so since they were on their best behavior I made a quick stop at Savers on the way.

My sister repinned this on Pinterest the other day courtesy of One Artsy Mama!!  So stinkin' cute huh??  Can you tell what it was before it was this awesome jewelry organizer??  A coffee mug holder!!

Such a great idea and a re-do I can totally handle...if only I had an old coffee mug holder.

Well...look what I found today!

Can't decide whether it should be for me or for Taylor.  I thought $2.99 was a bargain.  Just need a fun color of paint!

After we shopped and had lunch we came home...the kids played with their friends and I finished more pages for their scrapbooks.

I hope the kids appreciate these some day!!

Two More

I have been pretty productive the last few days.  It feels good to be back to it.  I have decided that when I can't think of anything to do OR I get stuck on projects...I need to just sit down and work on the kids' scrapbooks.  I really have NO excuse not too.

I have more paper than most people could imagine AND I have ALL of my photos printed in hand (I have spent a small fortune at Costco for said photos).

So yesterday when it was WAY too windy to spray paint (like I had planned), rather than turning on the TV (which is what I started to do)...I sat down in my craft room and pulled out some photos.

And YAY for me....

I finished two more pages for Thomas' book!!

I absolutely LOVE looking at the kids' scrapbooks and for now so do they.  He was pretty excited when he saw me working on his book.

Summer is coming to an end

>> Thursday, August 1, 2013

School officially starts on Aug. 12, but in preparation for that official day we are going to have a week long run-through starting on Sunday!

HeHe...I haven't told the kids yet.

Because it stays light out so much later in CO AND the kids are allowed to play out front, their bedtime has pretty much been non existent.  It varies from 6-10 depending on night, behavior or just how nice I am feeling.

Sunday night will be the start of their new official bedtime and all the responsibilities that will come with this new school year.

I decided to make a little responsibility chart for each of them to hang on their doors.  My kids are motivated by money of course, but like me they also like to "mark" things off!  I get sick of repeating myself to do the simple things they SHOULDN'T have to be told to do.

They do not know this yet, but if each task is completed EACH day of the week they earn $1.00.  So potentially they can earn $6.00 each week for just doing simple things like brushing their teeth and making their bed.  How hard is that??  With my kids...you'd be surprised.

As with most projects these days I used my CAMEO to make my little charts.  AND I used my new Purple Cow Laminating Machine!!!

All I need now are a couple dry-erase markers and a little Velcro.   When I hang them I will post a pic!!
